Small Talk with Dr Toni Haastrup

We have the pleasure of warmly inviting you to our first talk held in English this year.

Together with Dr Toni Haarstrup from the University of Stirling (UK), we will address the topic

"Anxious Relations: Making Sense of EU-Africa Relations".

Toni Haastrup is a Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Stirling. She is interested in Global Power Hierarchies, with specialisms in global security and regionalism. So far, she has published extensively on Africa-EU Relations; the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and Feminist Foreign Policy. Moreover, she is an occasional media commentator.
In this talk, she will explore how the articulation of African agency challenges historic Africa-European Union relations. By navigating history and the present, the presentation interrogates the possibilities of a true partnership where multiple overlapping crises provide the context for ongoing and potentially, future relations between African countries their institutions, and the European Union (EU).

Date: Friday, 22nd of April 2022
Time: 17.30 pm
Location: FAB | 1.05 | Online - hybrid

Dr Toni Haastrup will be joining us online. The talk, however, will be held in-person at our campus. In the event that you are unable to attend in presence, there will be the possibility of joining us online as well.

We have decided to open this SmallTalk to a wider audience. Thus, you are most welcome to invite and bring along friends, colleagues etc.

We are very much looking forward to an interesting talk as well as lively debate.
